On Saturday 13th July myself and my partner Sharon Younger went out on an investigation with a group of friends to Braydon Stoke Abbey.
Being that I grew up in RAF Lynham Sharon suggested that I give a brief history report on Braydon Stoke. We all met up with the rest of the guests at the White Hart pub in Lynham, before I spoke to our guests Sharon went and sat in the car, she didn’t want to know any information regarding the location.
As soon as I finished we all made our way to Braydon Stoke, we had 25 guests joining us for the investigation. To gain access to the abbey we had to cross several fields, I knew the way as I used to live close to the abbey.
Once we had all got our bearings Sharon began to call out for any signs of activity, while we were all seated around the abbey tower we all looked up while Sharon asked for any spirits present to throw a stone, within a few seconds we all heard what sounded like a stone being thrown which seemed to be aimed at a member of our group. As we all looked up at the tower we could see an outline of a figure, Sharon stated that it was a woman called Mary, she had been thrown into the tower for having an affair with a local monk.
While I was sat on some rocks close to the tower I noticed that my left arm of my jacket was wet, I found this unusual as it was not wet outside and I hadn’t been raining, I also witnessed a stone being thrown in front of me which landed in some nettles which I have no explanation for.
I also heard mumbling which seemed to be coming from the base of the abbey tower, I knew that it was no one from the group as we were sat in silence all seated together. We also heard other strange noises which at this point I can’t explain.
We then headed to the basement in the abbey, the feeling was very eerie. We didn’t witness anymore activity so we decided to go to the local cemetery, being that there were houses nearby we decided not to go into the cemetery and we decided to head for Avebury.
When we arrived in Avebury we headed straight to the graveyard, as soon as we entered Sharon said that she could see the spirit of a man she also said that his name was Anthony but felt people called him Tony. Sharon said she felt that he died in a motorcycle accident sometime in the 1970s; Sharon said that he had been buried in the churchyard. We split into teams to see if we could find his headstone, while we were heading towards the gates a member of the group Ricky Flanagan began shouting that he had found the headstone. The headstone stated that Anthony had died in 1977.
This was the first investigation that I have ever done; I will defiantly say that the experience has defiantly opened my eyes and that I would be going on an investigation again.
